As with most cities, Vienna International Airport is located just outside the city. The map of the districts of Vienna shows the location of the airport southeast of the city in the province of Lower Austria. Nevertheless, the connection Vienna Airport – city center is very well developed.
How to get from the airport to the city center?
There are several means of transport to choose from. The choice should be made depending on the destination. Although this can be decided on-site, it is better if you make a selection in advance and plan the trip to the city center before you arrive.
We recommend to buy the Vienna City Card online, namely the Vienna City Card Transfer, which includes the use of public transport and airport transfer. This gives you unlimited mobility when you arrive at the airport, as you can use the City Airport Train, the Railjet, the S-Bahn or the Vienna Airport Lines for free with the City Card.

Schnellbahn S7 – rapid train line
With the rapid train line S7, a further connection to the airport was created. From a price point of view, this is the cheapest connection. The intervals are also here at 30 minutes. If you want to be flexible or want to reach a hotel that may not be close to public transport, then the airport taxi is the right choice. However, this service should be reserved in advance, so that the airport fare is respected. A selection of airport taxis can be found here. The airport fare is 25 to 35 euros. Watch out! If you do not explicitly request this, then you pay the normal taxi fare, which is at least 45 euros and more.
