The most comfortable connection between Vienna’s city center and Schwechat Airport is the express train: CAT – the City Airport Train. Since December 2003, the light green-patterned Express train has left directly from Wien Mitte station – and is 16 minutes non-stop at the airport. Conversely, of course, as well. By the way, children up to 14 years and wheelchair users travel for free.

Free high-speed Wi-Fi, power sockets and USB ports are a given in the City Airport trains. For around 80% of all flights, it is also possible to check in directly at the CAT terminal. The journey to the airport then takes place conveniently only with hand luggage.

Express train travel with a clear conscience: The city airport train’s zero emissions rail electricity is generated 100% from renewable energy sources (hydro and wind). The so-called “Railpower Zero” electricity was awarded in 2013 at the European Rail Congress Awards – with the first prize for “Excellence in Environmental Sustainability”.
