Grinzing – Wine region and excursion destination

The wine-growing area of Grinzing lies in the north-west of the city and is primarily a popular excursion choice for tourists.

The only terrace complex in Vienna is located in Grinzing in the form of the Ried Steinberg. The somewhat cooler climate and heavy, stony, and calcareous ground provides the best conditions for the aromatic-fruity Grinzing wines.

Take the Heurigen Express through Grinzing

As part of a tour with the Heurigen Express, visitors can gain beautiful impressions of the most popular wine region of Vienna together with the municipalities of Grinzing and Nußdorf. The panorama train runs from April to October on a daily basis between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Route: Nußdorf – Grinzing – Kahlenberg – Nußdorf. Duration: approx. 1 hour.

The starting point of the tour is the final station of tram line D – Nußdorf Beethovengang. When starting from underground station Schottentor (inner city), it can be reached within 23 minutes on tram line D.
