What do you get when you mix breakfast and lunch together? That’s right, the word brunch! However, it’s not just a combination of two words. Rather, it’s about combining two meal phases, creating an extended period of time – Brunch Vienna – with extensive culinary content. This usually relaxed period is therefore planned for a long and enjoyable feast, which begins in the morning and can extend into the early afternoon.
Brunch Vienna – the late breakfast
Some breakfast venues or restaurants also serve a “late breakfast”. For example, you can order breakfast at The Guesthouse Brasserie & Bakery from 06:30 to 18:00. This is the more unusual option, but it usually starts early in the morning and lasts until the early afternoon.
Brunch in the hotel restaurant is also available in the Sanssouci with the extended Veranda Breakfast. The Gerstner Café-Restaurant offers a Sunday brunch every Sunday in its magnificent premises, the Beletage of the Palais Todesco. There is also a weekend brunch at Sneak-In in Siebensterngasse. Stadtallee in Mariahilferstraße also offers a Sunday brunch.
On Saturdays, the “Flying Breakfast” takes place at the Labstelle: The kitchen sends out small dishes continuously from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. – at a flat rate. The gym is a breakfast hotspot for vegetarians (but not only). The restaurant in the former gymnasium of a Jewish school offers a sensational vegetarian brunch at weekends and on public holidays (10 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 4 pm for sleepyheads). Breakfast during the week is also a tip.
The Boxwood restaurant, for example, offers a kind of luxury brunch in Vienna with a 3 or 4-course weekend brunch. A luxury brunch is also served at the Kempinski Champagne Brunch. On Sundays there is also a fork breakfast with champagne at The Bank restaurant. The Hotel Stefanie also offers clarinet music.
